ResearchAgent Installed Base Triples in 2004
ResearchAgent today announced that with more than 6000 new users in 2004 it has tripled its installed base. First released in 2002, ResearchAgent's suite of Research Management products have moved into the mainstream of legal technology.
The large increase is attributed to several factors, among which may be the arrival of large, established content providers in ResearchAgent's niche. "We will take credit for creating the research management space," say company founder Kirk Fackre, "but our explosive growth in '04 can only be explained by those gorillas climbing into the bathtub with us. Their presence validates our value proposition, increases awareness, and drives up demand."
Founding partner Diane Conde attributes ResearchAgent's success to its elegant simplicity and a focus on customer needs: "We have concentrated our time and energies on keeping ResearchAgent uncluttered and easy to use, while adding features that people want, such as the validation pass through module. I think we have done a good job avoiding the feature creep plaguing companies trying to be all things to all people." Conde also has misgivings about information providers managing and measuring their own content alongside that of their competitors. In Conde's words,"that's like putting wolves in charge of the henhouse."
Fackre expects 2005 to be another watershed year for ResearchAgent, with sustained exponential growth. "Last year answered any remaining questions about the viability of the research management space. Now, it is a matter of which companies and products do the best job and deliver the best value. We literally invented the technology underpinning key aspects of managing online research. There is not another company out there with the sharpness of focus and depth of expertise in our particular field."
